Newsletter Verdict: HOLD — $135 12-month price target.
Fair Value / Attractive Buy Price: ≤ $95 per share.

Current Price: $109.51 per share

Robinhood Markets has evolved from a commission-free retail brokerage into one of the fastest-growing consumer financial platforms in the United States. The company's ecosystem now extends across equities, options, cryptocurrency, prediction markets, retirement accounts, subscriptions, lending, banking, credit cards and wealth management. This diversification has expanded Robinhood's addressable market and created opportunities to generate substantially more revenue from its existing customer base.

The company's financial performance supports that transformation. Second-quarter 2026 revenue increased 32% year over year to $1.31 billion, adjusted EBITDA increased 35% to $741 million, and platform assets reached $369 billion. Quarterly net deposits of $21.7 billion demonstrate that customers are actively transferring additional capital onto the platform, while Gold subscribers increased 39% to 4.8 million. Robinhood is increasingly becoming a place where customers manage their financial lives rather than simply execute speculative trades.

However, the valuation remains demanding. Using the October 7 intraday reference price of approximately $109.32, Robinhood trades around 43.5 times forward earnings and approximately 38 times projected 2027 earnings. The business deserves a premium for its growth, but investors are already paying for substantial future execution. My $95 attractive-buy threshold represents a more disciplined entry based on normalized earnings and forward valuation ratios, while the $135 target reflects the potential for continued earnings growth and a sustained premium multiple.

1. Investment Thesis

Robinhood's investment thesis is built around its ability to capture an increasing share of the financial assets and transactions of younger investors.

The company originally attracted customers through commission-free trading, accessible account opening and an intuitive mobile interface. Those advantages allowed Robinhood to establish relationships with millions of investors who were underserved by traditional financial institutions.

The opportunity now extends far beyond trading commissions. As customers accumulate wealth, Robinhood can expand those relationships through retirement accounts, cash management, subscriptions, lending, credit cards and investment advisory services.

This creates the potential for customer assets and revenue per customer to grow faster than the number of funded accounts.

Robinhood's second-quarter results provide evidence of this development. Funded customers increased 7% year over year, while revenue increased 32%, platform assets increased 32%, and average revenue per user rose 24%.

The thesis becomes particularly attractive if Robinhood can convert its large customer base into a durable source of recurring and asset-based revenue.

The principal concern is valuation. Robinhood's rapid growth has already attracted a substantial market premium, leaving the stock sensitive to changes in earnings expectations, trading activity and investor risk appetite.

2. Latest Financial Results

Robinhood reported record second-quarter 2026 revenue of $1.31 billion, representing 32% year-over-year growth.

Transaction-based revenue increased 44% to $776 million, net interest revenue increased 9% to $389 million, and other revenue increased 54% to $143 million.

Adjusted EBITDA increased 35% to $741 million, while GAAP net income increased 48% to $573 million.

The results demonstrate that Robinhood is successfully expanding revenue beyond its original brokerage model.

However, GAAP earnings included approximately $129 million of gains primarily associated with the deconsolidation of Robinhood Ventures Fund I.

Those gains contributed approximately $0.14 to diluted EPS and should not be treated as recurring operating income.

This distinction is important when evaluating normalized profitability and determining an appropriate valuation multiple.

Transaction revenue accounted for approximately 59% of total revenue, while net interest contributed roughly 30%.

The remaining revenue came primarily from subscriptions and other services.

The company continues to benefit from strong transaction activity, particularly in options, equities and event contracts.

However, operating expenses increased 33% year over year, approximately matching revenue growth.

This reflects continued spending on product development, marketing, regulatory infrastructure and newer business initiatives.

Robinhood has already demonstrated that its platform can generate substantial profitability. The next stage of the thesis depends on whether revenue can continue growing faster than operating expenses as newer businesses mature.

4. Balance Sheet

Robinhood ended June 2026 with approximately $5.4 billion in cash and cash equivalents, compared with approximately $4.2 billion one year earlier.

The company also reported approximately $155 million in stablecoin holdings.

Its balance sheet differs significantly from that of a conventional industrial company because Robinhood operates regulated brokerage, clearing and lending businesses.

Customer cash, securities, collateral and receivables create substantial assets and corresponding obligations.

These balances should not be confused with unrestricted corporate liquidity.

Robinhood's liquidity provides flexibility for product development, acquisitions and strategic investments.

However, the company's convertible financing introduces potential shareholder dilution and future financial obligations.

The most important balance-sheet considerations are therefore corporate liquidity, regulatory capital, credit exposure and the relationship between financial obligations and normalized earnings.

5. Liquidity, Leverage and Financial Position

Robinhood's financial position has improved substantially as the company has transitioned from operating losses to consistent profitability.

As of June 30, the company reported committed revolving credit facilities with aggregate borrowing capacity of approximately $4.875 billion, alongside additional financing capacity associated with its credit-card funding structure.

These facilities support brokerage operations, liquidity management and financial-product expansion.

However, the company's increasing involvement in margin lending, consumer credit and banking creates additional risks.

The balance sheet is not currently the primary obstacle to a bullish investment thesis.

The more important concern is whether the company can continue growing earnings fast enough to justify its elevated valuation.

6. Cash Flow Statement

Robinhood's cash-flow statement requires careful interpretation because its brokerage operations involve substantial movements in customer balances, collateral, securities borrowing and receivables.

These movements can create significant volatility in reported operating cash flow without necessarily reflecting equivalent changes in the underlying profitability of the business.

During the first six months of 2026, Robinhood reported approximately $919 million of net income, compared with $722 million during the corresponding 2025 period.

The cash-flow reconciliation included approximately $197 million of share-based compensation, $92 million of credit-loss provisions and $46 million of depreciation and amortization.

The deconsolidation gain shown here is the amount separately identified in the cash-flow reconciliation; it differs from the broader approximately $129 million of gains discussed in the earnings release.

For valuation purposes, I prefer normalized earnings and dilution-adjusted free cash flow rather than treating reported operating cash flow as directly comparable with that of a conventional software business.

Robinhood's cash-generation potential is attractive, but its financial-services balance sheet makes simplistic price-to-free-cash-flow comparisons less useful.

7. Capital Expenditures and Growth Investment

Robinhood benefits from a relatively capital-light operating model.

Unlike industrial companies, utilities or semiconductor manufacturers, Robinhood does not need to construct extensive physical infrastructure to expand its core financial platform.

Its primary investments involve software development, compliance infrastructure, product expansion, customer acquisition, acquisitions and international operations.

This creates the potential for substantial operating leverage.

Once a financial product is developed, Robinhood can distribute it across an existing customer base without proportionately increasing physical capital requirements.

However, not all growth opportunities are equally capital-light.

Margin lending, banking, credit cards and regulated international businesses require financing capacity, risk management and regulatory compliance.

The most attractive investments are those that increase revenue per customer while generating incremental profits without materially increasing balance-sheet risk.

8. Options Trading — The Core Earnings Engine

Options remain one of Robinhood's largest and most important revenue sources.

During Q2 2026, options transaction revenue increased 29% year over year to approximately $342 million.

Options contracts traded increased 50% to 774 million.

This demonstrates strong customer engagement and continued relevance among active retail traders.

Options are attractive because they generate frequent transaction activity and create opportunities for Robinhood to monetize an engaged customer base.

However, options revenue remains cyclical.

Periods of elevated market volatility and speculative activity can generate substantial transaction revenue, while quieter markets can produce weaker results.

The difference between contract-volume growth and revenue growth also demonstrates that revenue earned per contract can fluctuate.

I view options as a powerful earnings engine, but not one that deserves the same valuation treatment as predictable subscription revenue.

9. Prediction Markets — The Emerging Growth Engine

Prediction markets have become one of Robinhood's fastest-growing businesses.

During Q2 2026, event-contract revenue reached approximately $156 million, increasing more than tenfold year over year.

Event-contract volume reached approximately 13.6 billion contracts.

This represents a significant new revenue stream that did not exist at comparable scale during Robinhood's earlier development.

The company is also expanding its prediction-market infrastructure through Rothera, a CFTC-licensed exchange and clearinghouse operated through a joint venture with Susquehanna.

Prediction markets create opportunities to attract customers interested in economic, political, sporting and other event-driven outcomes.

However, the regulatory environment remains uncertain.

Federal derivatives oversight, state gaming laws, market-integrity requirements and restrictions on eligible contracts could materially affect the business.

Prediction markets are a meaningful growth catalyst, but I would not assume that recent triple-digit growth rates can continue indefinitely.

10. Cryptocurrency and Bitstamp

Cryptocurrency remains an important part of Robinhood's long-term strategy.

However, Q2 2026 cryptocurrency transaction revenue declined 38% year over year to approximately $100 million.

Total cryptocurrency notional trading volume reached approximately $40 billion, including $22 billion through Bitstamp.

The acquisition of Bitstamp expands Robinhood's international reach and provides additional institutional infrastructure.

It also strengthens the company's position in cryptocurrency trading, custody and related financial services.

The broader opportunity includes tokenized financial assets, blockchain infrastructure and international digital-asset markets.

However, cryptocurrency revenue remains highly sensitive to trading activity, asset prices, regulation and competitive pressure.

The weakness in Q2 cryptocurrency revenue demonstrates why Robinhood's diversification strategy is important.

Other business lines must continue expanding to reduce dependence on any individual speculative market.

11. Robinhood Gold — Recurring Revenue

Robinhood Gold is one of the most strategically important components of the company's financial ecosystem.

Gold subscribers increased 39% year over year to approximately 4.8 million during Q2.

That represented roughly 17% of funded customers.

Gold creates recurring subscription revenue while encouraging customers to adopt additional Robinhood products.

These include cash management, retirement benefits, research tools, premium financial services and other platform features.

The most important benefit may be improved customer retention.

Customers using multiple Robinhood services face greater inconvenience when moving to a competing institution.

That creates opportunities to increase lifetime customer value and reduce reliance on transaction revenue.

Continued Gold adoption could support a higher valuation multiple if subscription growth translates into sustainable incremental earnings.

12. Banking, Credit Cards and Lending

Robinhood is expanding its relationship with customers through banking and credit products.

The Gold Card surpassed one million customers, while annualized purchase volume exceeded approximately $17 billion.

Robinhood Banking attracted more than $3 billion in deposits from over 240,000 funded customers.

The company's margin lending business has also expanded substantially.

Its margin book reached approximately $21.6 billion, representing growth of roughly 127% year over year.

These businesses create additional revenue opportunities through interest income, lending activity and customer engagement.

However, they also introduce new financial risks.

Credit-loss provisions reached approximately $56 million during Q2, compared with $28 million one year earlier.

The increase partly reflects the expansion of credit-related products, but it highlights the importance of monitoring underwriting performance.

Robinhood's long-term profitability will depend not simply on expanding lending balances, but on generating attractive risk-adjusted returns.

13. Retirement and Wealth Management

Retirement accounts represent one of Robinhood's most attractive long-term opportunities.

Retirement assets under custody increased approximately 82% year over year to $34.5 billion during Q2.

This growth is strategically important because retirement assets generally have longer investment horizons than speculative trading balances.

Customers contributing regularly to retirement accounts may maintain those relationships for decades.

Robinhood is also expanding into advisory services through Robinhood Strategies and TradePMR.

These initiatives create opportunities to generate more stable, asset-based revenue.

The long-term thesis becomes particularly attractive if Robinhood can retain younger investors as their portfolios grow and their financial needs become more complex.

That would allow the company to compete more directly with established wealth-management institutions.

14. International Expansion and Tokenization

Robinhood is expanding internationally through brokerage, cryptocurrency and tokenized financial products.

The company reported more than one million international funded customers during Q2.

It has also expanded its international infrastructure through acquisitions and regulatory approvals, including WonderFi and a Singapore capital-markets-services license.

Tokenization represents another potential long-term opportunity.

Blockchain-based representations of financial assets could eventually improve market accessibility, settlement and international distribution.

However, the economics remain uncertain.

International regulation, market competition and the development of tokenized securities infrastructure could affect profitability.

I view these initiatives as long-term optionality rather than the primary foundation of the current valuation.

15. Customer Growth and Platform Assets

One of Robinhood's strongest financial indicators is its ability to attract additional customer assets.

Platform assets increased 32% year over year to approximately $369 billion during Q2.

Quarterly net deposits reached $21.7 billion, while trailing twelve-month net deposits totaled approximately $75.7 billion.

These figures are particularly important because net deposits reflect capital customers actively transfer onto the platform.

Market appreciation can increase platform assets temporarily, but sustained net deposits demonstrate customer confidence and increasing wallet share.

Robinhood's funded customer base increased 7% to 28.4 million.

The fact that assets and revenue are growing significantly faster than customer counts suggests improving monetization.

This creates opportunities for stronger interest income, lending revenue, subscriptions and advisory services.

16. Competitive Position

Robinhood competes with established financial institutions including Charles Schwab, Fidelity and Interactive Brokers, alongside digital platforms such as Coinbase and Webull.

Its competitive advantages include a recognizable brand, accessible product design, low-friction onboarding and rapid product development.

Robinhood has been particularly successful at attracting younger investors who may be less attached to traditional financial institutions.

However, competition becomes more difficult as customer account balances increase.

Established brokerages offer extensive retirement, advisory, banking and wealth-management services.

Robinhood must demonstrate that customers are willing to maintain increasingly substantial financial assets on the platform.

The company's expanding product ecosystem strengthens that proposition, but long-term retention remains essential.

17. Management and Product Development

Management has demonstrated strong product-development momentum.

Robinhood reported that 13 business lines had reached at least $100 million in annualized revenue by Q2 2026.

This illustrates the diversification of the company's revenue base.

The company is no longer dependent exclusively on equities, options and cryptocurrency trading.

Instead, it is building multiple financial businesses around a common customer platform.

However, rapid expansion introduces execution risk.

Management must balance innovation with compliance, expense control, credit underwriting and capital allocation.

The long-term investment thesis depends on new products generating attractive incremental returns rather than simply increasing reported revenue.

18. Capital Allocation and Share Repurchases

Robinhood has increasingly returned capital to shareholders through repurchases.

During Q2 2026, the company repurchased approximately $414 million of common stock, representing 4.4 million shares at an average purchase price near $94.

This included approximately $290 million of repurchases associated with its convertible-note offering.

Since beginning its original repurchase program in 2024, Robinhood had repurchased approximately $1.3 billion under that program by the end of Q2 2026.

Repurchases can increase earnings per share and offset dilution.

However, their effectiveness depends on the price paid and the amount of new equity issued through compensation or convertible securities.

Robinhood's diluted share count remains an important metric.

The company should be evaluated on sustainable earnings growth per diluted share rather than simply the dollar value of announced repurchases.

19. Earnings Quality and Normalized Profit

Robinhood's reported GAAP earnings require adjustment for nonrecurring items.

Second-quarter net income of $573 million included approximately $129 million of gains primarily related to the deconsolidation of Robinhood Ventures Fund I.

Those gains contributed approximately $0.14 to reported diluted EPS of $0.62.

Removing that identified contribution produces indicative quarterly EPS of approximately $0.48, before considering any other normalization adjustments.

This matters because investors should not annualize an unusually favorable quarter without distinguishing recurring operating profit from one-time gains.

Robinhood's underlying earnings trajectory remains strong.

However, transaction revenue, interest income, credit losses and stock-based compensation can materially affect normalized profitability.

For valuation, I prefer forward earnings estimates that reflect a reasonably sustainable operating environment rather than extrapolating peak trading conditions.

20. Current Valuation Ratios

Robinhood's valuation remains elevated relative to traditional financial institutions.

Using an October 7 intraday reference price of approximately $109.32, the company's market capitalization was approximately $98.3 billion.

The forward P/E and the price-to-2027-earnings ratio differ because they use different earnings periods.

Robinhood deserves a valuation premium because of its earnings growth, customer asset gathering and expanding financial ecosystem.

However, a valuation near 38 times projected 2027 earnings already incorporates considerable optimism.

That makes the stock vulnerable to multiple compression if growth slows or earnings disappoint.

21. Fair Value / Attractive Buy Price Analysis

This is where I want to distinguish Robinhood's long-term business potential from the price the book should be willing to pay.

The valuation begins with a working 2027 earnings estimate of approximately $2.87 per share.

This is an analyst-estimate reference rather than company guidance, and it remains subject to revision.

Robinhood's revenue growth, improving operating leverage and expanding financial ecosystem justify a premium to traditional brokerages.

However, the business remains exposed to transaction cyclicality, regulatory uncertainty, credit risk and shareholder dilution.

I believe a multiple of approximately 30–35 times normalized forward earnings is a reasonable starting range for determining an attractive entry.

Applying approximately 33 times projected 2027 EPS of $2.87 produces a valuation near $95 per share.

That is the threshold I would use when evaluating new exposure.

Fair Value / Attractive Buy Price: ≤ $95

At $95, investors would pay approximately 33 times projected 2027 earnings.

At the $109.32 reference price, the multiple is approximately 38 times.

The lower entry price provides more protection against earnings disappointments and valuation compression.

This is especially important for a company whose profitability remains sensitive to trading volumes and market conditions.

The attractive-buy threshold is therefore more conservative than the 12-month target.

22. Relative Valuation and 12-Month Target

The $135 target assumes Robinhood continues growing earnings faster than current expectations.

If normalized forward EPS approaches approximately $3.50, applying a multiple near 38.5 times earnings produces a valuation close to $135.

That outcome requires continued expansion in Gold subscriptions, retirement assets, prediction markets, customer deposits and operating profitability.

It also assumes the market remains willing to assign Robinhood a premium multiple.

The distinction between the two valuation figures is important.

$95 represents an attractive purchase price based on projected earnings and a more disciplined multiple.

$135 represents a potential future valuation if earnings growth and execution remain strong.

The target is not guaranteed, and a favorable operating outlook does not eliminate the risk of valuation compression.

23. Catalysts and Risks

Robinhood's largest potential catalysts include continued net deposit growth, Gold subscription adoption, retirement asset accumulation, prediction-market expansion, international growth and improving operating leverage.

The company's next scheduled earnings release is October 27, 2026.

That report will provide an important update on transaction volumes, customer asset growth, profitability and the performance of newer business lines.

The principal risks include:

  1. Retail trading activity declines.

  2. Options volumes weaken.

  3. Cryptocurrency markets remain soft.

  4. Prediction-market regulation becomes more restrictive.

  5. Lower interest rates pressure net interest revenue.

  6. Credit losses increase.

  7. Operating expenses grow faster than revenue.

  8. Convertible securities and compensation dilute shareholders.

  9. Competition compresses transaction economics.

  10. The market reduces Robinhood's premium valuation multiple.

  11. Customer asset growth slows.

  12. New products fail to generate attractive incremental profitability.

The largest risk is not necessarily that Robinhood stops growing.

It is that earnings growth fails to justify the valuation investors are currently paying.

25. Newsletter Verdict

ROBINHOOD MARKETS (HOOD) — HOLD

12-Month Price Target: $135

Fair Value / Attractive Buy Price: ≤ $95 per share

Reference Price: ~$109

Upside to Target: ~24%

Robinhood's investment thesis has strengthened considerably as the company expands beyond its original commission-free brokerage model.

The company is generating strong revenue growth, attracting substantial customer deposits and developing additional businesses that increase the economic value of its existing customer relationships.

Second-quarter revenue increased 32% to $1.31 billion, adjusted EBITDA reached $741 million, and platform assets climbed to $369 billion. Gold subscribers reached 4.8 million, while quarterly net deposits totaled $21.7 billion.

These figures demonstrate that Robinhood is successfully developing into a broader financial platform.

The most attractive aspect of the business is its potential to grow revenue per customer as younger investors accumulate wealth.

Retirement accounts, banking, lending, credit cards, subscriptions and advisory services create opportunities to increase customer retention and generate additional earnings without proportionately expanding the funded customer base.

However, the valuation remains demanding.

At approximately $109, Robinhood trades around 38 times the working 2027 earnings estimate of $2.87 per share.

That valuation assumes continued strong execution and leaves limited protection against weaker trading activity, regulatory developments or earnings disappointments.

The fair-value calculation is deliberately more conservative than the 12-month price target.

Using projected 2027 EPS of approximately $2.87 and applying a forward multiple of 33 times produces an attractive-buy threshold near $95 per share.

I believe that multiple provides a more reasonable balance between Robinhood's earnings-growth potential and the risks associated with transaction cyclicality, credit exposure, regulation and dilution.

Therefore:

≤$95 represents our attractive accumulation zone.

At approximately $109, Robinhood is trading above that threshold.

I would not characterize the stock as dramatically overvalued, but I believe the current price offers less margin of safety than I would prefer when allocating new capital.

The $135 target assumes normalized forward EPS can move toward approximately $3.50 while the market continues assigning Robinhood a premium earnings multiple near 38.5 times.

That outcome is achievable if Gold subscriptions, prediction markets, retirement assets and customer deposits continue expanding rapidly.

However, the target depends on continued execution rather than simply maintaining current earnings.

The most important metrics I would monitor are net deposits, platform assets excluding market appreciation, recurring revenue growth, credit losses and normalized diluted EPS.

Those indicators will determine whether Robinhood continues developing into a durable, diversified financial institution or remains overly dependent on favorable trading conditions.

For existing exposure, I favor holding while management continues executing.

For new capital, I would prefer waiting for a more attractive valuation rather than aggressively accumulating shares above our calculated buy threshold.

Newsletter Verdict: HOLD — $135 12-month price target.

Fair Value / Attractive Buy Price: ≤ $95 per share.
